In the middle of Prague's Vltava river lies a beautifully quaint island called Střelecký Ostrov. The island lies under the Legii bridge and is home to the Ostrov restaurant. Ostrov offers magnificent views, whether indoors or outside on the covered terrace. This upscale setting is perfect for the popular business or leisure lunches where you can enjoy a three-course meal for a reasonable price. The food is international, though there is a section of the menu devoted solely to Czech cuisine. Try the grilled brown trout with lime butter and herb risotto, or the wild game goulash served with bacon dumplings. It's advisable to take a cab, as parking is not permitted on the island. You can park on nearby Janáčkovo nábřeží, or, if you're coming from the eastern side of the river, you can park in the guarded lot on Slovanský ostrov, then take the water taxi to the restaurant. Dining here is usually reserved for special occasions and it's always packed, so re! ! servations are highly recommended. Check the website for further details, including seasonal hours.
