Getting there & Getting around

Getting there

Ménara airport is 6km (3.7mi) southwest of town and has international flights to and from Europe plus domestic routes, including several daily flights to and from Casablanca. Buses are a cheap and efficient way of getting around. The main bus station is just outside the city and has a dizzying array of booths covering local and long-distance destinations. Book two days in advance if you want to catch the train; the station lies on the western side of Guéliz on Ave Hassan II.

Getting around

Marrakesh is relatively transport friendly. There are plenty of buses around town, and to and from the airport and train station, and most destinations are serviced by small petits or large and/or shared (grands taxis. Horse-drawn carriages (calèches) can work out cheaper than a taxi and are a fun way to see the sights.
