A real charming city, outstanding hospitality, i will go back to El Jadida ASAP

five stars

I went camping with my 2 daughters in a well maintained INTERNATIONAL CAMPING CARAVANNING D'EL JADIDA. the service was outstanding and i am still amazed by the Moroccan hospitality and natural warmth. A moroccan family camping next to us would gladly take care of my children, feeding them, giving them a bath... We went on organized tours of the city: we say the old portugese city, the tombs of the awliyaa, the typical Riads (Moroccan houses), fantasia (outside the city) and so much more. Plus, all the magnificent beaches, we also went Camel riding throught the whole corniche of Sidi Bouzid. My daughters who love swimming enjoyed the Royal Golf Palace, and Lacienda stunning swimming pools. I enjoyed a hilarious theatre play in El Jadida's Theatre Principale. I laughed even i could not uderstand a word. The food is one of the best i ever had. It is very, affordable, tasty and generous. there is many Moroccan and international restaurants to choose from, like Restaurant du Port located in El Jadida's harbor. Besides, we made Moroccan friends so easily and they gladly invited us to their home and offered us delicious food. the best i have had so far. My daughters and i had a wonderful experience in El Jadida, we would like to thank all the people (jadidi) and i strongly recommend to visit this amazing city. Regards, Robert B.

Good place to enjoy the beach, meet native moroccans

four stars

Good beach in city, great beaches nearby. 2 new 3-4 star hotels, others old. pop. 175000. Generally laid-back, except july and august when moroccans returning from europe, moroccan interior, fill beaches and apts. People generally friendly, beach good place to meet moroccans of both sexes and all ages. Most speak some french; because of popularity of english majors in local university, and in last year of secondary school, english becoming useful among younger jadidis. Suffers from dearth of good restaurants, but many "snacks" offer prices of 20 dirhams for roast chicken, fries, etc. Harira (moroccan soup) and fries only about 7 dirhams ($1=8 dirhams spring 2005) Problems: mental patients free to roam streets, given no medication, sometimes harrass europeans. Backsheesh culture prevalent among public servants.
