This hotel is known far and wide for its doormen, who sport the traditional costume of British Beefeaters. The lobby of the hotel, like the doormen, is all red and gold splendor. The guest rooms are a bit more understated but no less elegant. Both Scala's Bistro and Harry Denton's Starlight Room are located on-site, and both establishments draw as many locals as out-of-town visitors.

Great location! Room was small, but nice view overlooking Union Sq. Service was very friendly. Parking was difficult.

It was what I expected/needed

4 stars

Good, clean hotel. Staff was very polite and helpful. The rooms are not huge, but what was needed for one night. \n \nGood location downtown. Doormen outside are probably the most clever part. \n \nI would stay there again on business.

Great location and value

4 stars

Had a great room with a view on Union Square, the front desk accomodated us nicely. The room and bed were very comfortable. We were on the 19th floor and there was some noise from the starlight room but nothing overwelming, it stopped by 1:30am (I'm sure it would have been a lot louder on the 20th floor. The bell men helped us with directions when needed. A great location for the cable car and shopping. Some of the decor in the room could be updated but for the value and location would highly recommend this hotel.
